Bear’s story begins with a Craigslist ad.

His dad had passed away, and Bear went to live with a family member. The family member couldn’t care for Bear though, so he ended up on Craigslist.

A customer of mine came across the ad and watched to see if someone would adopt this precious dog. After a week, there had still been no offers. My customer felt her heart telling her to go and help this dog. She didn’t want him ending up at the Humane Society. So she went to pick him up.

I got a text that evening: “Can you fit an 8-year-old, 3-legged dog into your schedule?” The next morning, I met Bear, a handsome lab mix. I learned that when he was a puppy, Bear was hit by a car and had one of his front legs amputated.

For the first hour, I let Bear walk around and get used to his new environment. Then I sat on the floor with him, and saw just how much of a sweetheart he was. When I looked into his eyes, my heart melted. I told Brooke that we needed to find a perfect home for Bear.

Brooke instantly texted her mom, asking if anyone at her work wanted to love Bear for the rest of his life. I took lots of pictures and spread the word that Bear needed a home. A lady who works with Brooke’s mom said she wanted to hear more about Bear.

We talked to her for most of the day, and by the end of our conversation, Bear had found his new home.

The next day, Brooke took Bear to her mom’s work, and Bear met Cindy, his new forever mom. It was instant love. Cindy went out and bought him a big Tempur-pedic bed and scheduled an appointment with the vet. Bear

gets chronic ear infections, and is a little on the “fluffy” side, which isn’t good for a dog with only three legs. With his new forever family, Bear is well on the road to getting healthy and losing some weight.

Thank you Cindy for taking in an older dog with special needs! I love happy endings!

UPDATE:

Brooke’s mom reports that Bear is doing great! Cindy said he has a twinkle in his eyes and is actually playing!! He also knows what the treat container sounds like. He has found a place next to her bed every night and by her recliner during the day. Cindy states: “He just melts my heart.” Bear has an appointment to go see the vet on Friday. Thank you to all who have helped!

**We are taking donations to help cover some of the vet costs to return Bear to full health. If you are able to help, please stop by the salon or contact us. Thank you in advance!**
